  1. I Will Build

This is my reflection on the creative force in each of us, where we, through will and determination, build what is important in each of our lives: a nurturing home, a career, a campaign, a coalition, an opus, or a tower of blocks. It is also about visionaries, bent on building the improbable and the impossible, but who somehow, occasionally, succeed.
  2. Destroy Relocate Rebuild

We begin our games with destruction and rebirth as young children, playing with building blocks and train tracks. Moving may be associated with hope or loss. Either way, the process of dismanteling an old home, finding a new home, and building anew reminds me of these children's games.
  3. Don't Go Back to Sleep

This piece was inspired by a Rumi poem that had a peaceful dreamlike mood, "The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep." My depiction, however, came out a little different, and fairly true to my present relationship with sleep.
  4. SuperCali

This image of Blarney Castle in Ireland is punctuated with fun but meaningless text. "Atoning for educability through delicate beauty" is the meaning of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
  5. Of Fences and Neighbors

This is the view outside my studio door, in a rough section of the city. A 5 ft brick wall, topped with another 5 ft of chainlink fence topped with razor wire separate my studio building from my 90 year old neighbor. I wonder what she thinks of this fence, but we've hardly spoken.
